President Bush has warned us that in the United States alone anywhere from 200,000 (at best!) to 2 million people at worst would die from the bird flu.
This ‘warning’ was used by the US government to justify the immediate purchase of 20 million doses of the antiviral medication Tamiflu – the only oral medicine they want us to believe to be effective against the deadly H5N1 strain of the disease.
Tamiflu costs $100 per dose.
That comes to a staggering cost $2 billion – paid for by US taxpayers.
So far over 60 countries have so far ordered more than 80 million doses of Tamiflu.
Unhealthy Factory Farming – Not a Virus – Makes Birds Sick.
Avian flu does NOT readily spread from birds to humans or humans to humans. Most of the (very few) people who have acquired this infection were bird handlers who were in continuous contact with sick birds.
What’s making all these chickens sick is mostly because because they were raised under factory-farming conditions that, combined with the terrible food they were given, weakened their immune systems and allowed them to come down with this deadly infection – Not because of some terrible lethal virus.
The British Medical Journal has an editorial (published 24 October 2005) on the bird flu in which they state the following:
“The lack of sustained human-to-human transmission suggests that this AH5N1 avian virus does not currently have the capacity to cause a human pandemic”
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
How big drug companies and the governments they control use scare tactics for massive kickbacks.
By orchestrating fear and panic, the multi-national drug corporations are able to collect massive amounts of money for creating stockpiles of vaccines in the name of “protecting the public health.”
To further compound the problem, recent legislation insulates the drug companies from any liability despite any harm their dangerous creations cause. This effectively allows them to collect billions of dollars from a hoax and avoid any responsibility for the inevitable harm and damage that will result from their solution for this created villain.
How Donald Rumsfeld is Making a Killing on Bird Flu
The drug Tamiflu was developed by a Californian biotech company, Gilead Sciences. It is now made and sold by the giant chemical company Roche, which pays it a royalty on every tablet sold, currently about a fifth of its price.
Former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was on the board of Gilead from 1988 to 2001, and was its chairman from 1997. He then left to join the Bush administration, but retained a huge shareholding .The firm made a loss in 2003, the year before concern about bird flu started.
Tamiflu was bought in mass quantities by the government in order to treat a predicted outbreak of avian flu.
Then revenues from Tamiflu almost quadrupled, to $44.6m, helping put the company well into the black. Sales almost quadrupled again, to $161.6m last year. During this time the share price trebled.
Mr Rumsfeld sold some of his Gilead shares in 2004 reaping – according to the financial disclosure report he is required to make each year – capital gains of more than $5m. The report showed that he still had up to $25m-worth of shares at the end of 2004, and at least one analyst believes his stake has grown well beyond that figure, as the share price has soared.
The 2005 report showed that, in all, he owned shares worth up to $95.9m, from which he got an income of up to $13m.
Note: Mr. Rumsfeld has a long history of influencing public health. At GD Searle he facilitated FDA approval for Nutrasweet. Unfortunately, current ethics rules in American government don’t prevent Rumsfeld from owning stocks or making money from health-harming substances like Tamiflu or aspartame, even though he likely has some say in their purchase or approval by the government, and therefore their stock value.
A Flu Drug is Killing People than the Flu itself
The most ironic thing about all of this is that not only is the “avian flu pandemic” a hoax for which there is no evidence, but Tamiflu can actually cause the flu virus to mutate into a more dangerous and potent viral strain, and may have even worse side effects.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now investigating reports that the deaths of 12 Japanese children may be linked to the anti-viral drug.
Tamiflu has also been linked to neuropsychiatric incidents in children, including seizures, loss of consciousness, and delirium.
The reports mentions:
- A 14-year-old boy with flu took a dose of Tamiflu and two hours later fell from the ninth floor of his apartment building
- Another child, hours after taking a dose, jumped from the second floor of his house into deep snow
The reason Tamiflu side effects may show up earlier in Japan is that Tamiflu is used 12 times more frequently in Japan than in the United States – 11.6 million prescriptions for children in
Japan between 2001 and 2005, compared to about 872,000 during that same period in the
United States.
See: USA Today Nov 17, 2005 & USA Today Nov 19, 2005.
The drug companies have made arrangements with the
U.S. government so that they are not liable for any of the side effects from the drugs.
President Bush’s $7.1-billion pandemic flu plan seeks broad limits on lawsuits against producers of vaccines and antiviral drugs, but is silent on how those injured or killed by adverse reactions might be compensated.
The liability shield is contained in the Pandemic Flu Countermeasure Liability Protection Act of 2005. It would protect producers and distributors of emergency vaccines from injury suits except in cases of “willful misconduct,” a term to be defined later by the attorney general and the secretary of Health and Human Services.
So, even if these drugs or vaccines wind up killing innocent children, these companies will not be held liable.. Of course, this is the same agency that gave Vioxx its safetly blessing before it killed 55,000 people.
When Tamiflu kills U.S. children, Roche will plead that they had no idea it could do such a thing! They will claim reports such as this one out of Japan were unverified, and that there was no way they could have known it was a problem.
